Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, have fun, and make a difference. If you would like to do any of those three things, please contact us at info@houstonwindsymphony.org and we will be more than happy to work with you to meet those goals!

How can I volunteer?

All sorts of jobs are available! Whether you have a specialized skill you wish to contribute or just want to give some general help, there's always a way to participate! Examples include:

  • Concert Usher
  • Ticket/Concession Sales (at the concert)
  • Stage Crew Volunteer
  • Book Keeping
  • Promotion
  • Social Media

Hmm, what if I want to do something that sounds fun, but I have no experience?

Then you can be classified as an intern and we can teach you those skills! Examples of intern jobs are:

  • Marketing/Public Relations
  • Fundraising
  • Volunteer Management
  • Operations Planning
  • Administrative Ensemble Managment
  • Grant Writing

What kind of time commitment am I looking at?

The safest answer is: It depends on what you want to do. Volunteer jobs are generally easier on folks who have a fairly full plate as they tend to be task specific. For example, if you wanted to be a stage crew member, then you just just show up for safety orientation and then work the night of the concert (or the rehearsal). Internship jobs tend to be more time consuming as they have an education component to them. We don't believe in just sitting you at a compute and telling you to google the answer. We guide you through a learning process and that requires regular contact and consistent hand on experience.

I'm a teacher, can I help?

You certainly can! three of our five founding members were teachers and education is an important part of what we do! If you would like to help us design our education materials and programs, we would love to hear from you!

I play [instrument] can I play with you guys?

That's a tricky thing for us right now. We used to have a community ensemble, but we do not have an active one at this time. When we feel like we have a good plan and direction for it, along with support from the community, we will try to bring it back.
